Sean Duffy will run

This morning in Wausau Sean Duffy held a news confernence and made it official: he has thrown his hat in the ring and is running for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District. FOX 21 confirmed this through WAOW-TV in Wausau.

The Ashland County District Attorney and Republican, Duffy is also held a news conference in Hayward today at 1:30 at the Lumberjack Bowl. Hayward is where Duffy was raised. He admits it will be a tough run against Democrat Congressman Dave Obey who has represented the district since 1969 and is considered one of the most powerful people in Washington D.C.

37-year-old Duffy was appointed Ashland County D.A. in 2002.

He’s a professional lumberjack and was a cast member on MTV’s “The

Real World Boston’ in 1997. He is married to a former “Real World” cast member; they have five children and reside in Ashland.

Republican Dan Mielke will also run again in 2010. He’s a farmer from Randolph who lost to Obey last year.
