Paul Nelis of Odanah gets jail, probation for 5th OWI

Wow! Not even a year in a county jail for a 5th DUI. Wisconsin sure has some pretty lax DUI laws. Here in Minnesota, Mr. Nelis would have positively been doing prison time. Yeah, prison, not the county workhouse, but the real deal.

“…for a fifth DUI within 10 years of the first, one year of incarceration is the mandatory minimum.”

Paul Nelis should thank his lucky (or is it?) stars that he doesn’t live in Minnesota, he’d probably be off to Lino or Faribault. You can read about Mr. Nelis here.
