Saxon-to-Odanah project on U.S. 2 has begun

A $3.1 million U.S. 2 improvement project between Saxon and Odanah was scheduled to get under way Monday as a result of federal stimulus funding.
The project will involve milling and replacing two inches of road surface for a nine-mile stretch.
Northwoods Paving, Kimball, is the general contractor. Northwoods is a division of Mathy Construction.

Bad River Band to set water quality standards

Federal environmental officials have agreed to let a Wisconsin tribe set its own water quality standards.
The Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa will set quality standards for state discharge permits issued for on-reservation facilities such as sewage plants. The state must follow the tribe’s standards when it issues permits to facilities upstream of the [...]
