Fishing Report coming this week

I should have been on top of this months ago. A fishing report. I suppose it’s better late, than never. On Wenesday afternoons I will be publishing a fishing report for the Apostle Islands area.

Sorry it took until July to realize this, but as I said, better late, than never.

Lura at Big Top July 12th, 2009

Originally born in Portugal to parents from the Cape Verde Islands off the coast of West Africa, LURA draws on the islands’ pungent blend of trade route cultures that have created a unique musical tradition embracing French Afro-pop, Brazilian rhythms and earthy, traditional African music. Just as Mariza has breathed new life into Fado as a contemporary heir to Amalia Rodrigues, so Lura does to this Cape Verdean music first made famous by Cesaria Evora. Lura brings to her music a street-wise, urban sensuality infused with the passionate roots of Africa. Riding on the tide of Cape Verde’s rediscovery of its African roots, she has the star quality to bring this music to a wider audience. She mixes the familiar Morna style with the little-known rhythms of Funana and Batuque: styles brought to the fore by a talented new generation of composers such as Tcheka and Pantera. It is the music of women from the remote interior of Cape Verde, now infused with jazz and Brazilian influences.  Lura is part of a new generation of musicians rediscovering these hidden traditions of her ancestral homeland.

Climate Kook Alert: Global warming causing smaller sheep

laughing-guy

HA! HA! HA! The dopes are at it again! LMAO!!! Yeah! And the earth is flat, the sun revolves around the earth, Venus truly is the goddess of love, and we must hurry and sacrifice a few virgins, toss in a couple of babies for good measure so that the gods won’t burn up the planet! HA! HA! HA! These people that believe this primitive nonsense must still believe it’s 1309 instead of 2009. HA! HA! HA!

Like the wool sweater that emerges from the dryer a size too small, global warming seems to be shrinking sheep.

On average, wild Soay sheep on Scotland’s island Hirta are 5 percent smaller today than they were in 1985, according to a team of researchers led by Tim Coulson of Imperial College London.

“The decrease in body size was due to a reduction in growth rates caused, in part, by the changing climate,” Coulson said in an interview via e-mail.

Anybody reading this stupid enough to buy this cow manure? If you believe it, you’re pretty damn stupid.

Let’s look at this through the eyes of common sense. Taking this bonehead junk scientist Tim Coulson at his word. A warmer climate would mean more vegetation, more vegetation means more food for the sheep. Warmer weather also means less exertion and activity. That’s even prevalent in humans. When it’s really warm we don’t move as much, and if you notice, neither do animals.

So, lack of exercise, an over abundance of food… well, you get the picture. Fatter sheep. Common sense.

But, the reverse is happening. We all know there is no such thing as global warming. In fact, all the science points to the fact that the earth has been cooling since 1998. The last few winters have been harsh, particularly so in Europe. Harsh winters, limited vegetation, less to eat, more movement to keep warm… lighter sheep. Common sense.

You can believe the tyrants, kooks, and profiteers, or you can believe in evidence and common sense.

Warren Nelson Poll

On February 6th I published a poll and asked the question, “Should Warren Nelson have been cut from Big Top?”

Over 100 of you have answered. In case some don’t know, Warren has been facing sexual assault charges.

We will know the fate and plea bestowed upon Warren on July 10th when he enters his plea and recieves his sentence.

So at 8:00 AM July 10th I will be closing the poll and will publish the results that afternoon sometime after 4:00 PM.

If you’d like to participate in the poll before it closes click here.
